Former Governor of Ekiti State and former Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Dr John Kayode Fayemi, CON, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Mama Florence Funmilayo Ajakaye, extending his heartfelt condolences to her family and the Catholic community in Ekiti State and beyond.

In a condolence message, Dr Fayemi described the death of Mama Ajakaiye as a painful loss, noting that the passing of a mother leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of her children and loved ones.
He extended his sincere sympathies to the bereaved family, particularly the deceased’s son, His Lordship, and other members of the Catholic community who mourn her passing.

Reflecting on Mama Ajakaye’s life and legacy, Dr Fayemi observed that the virtues evident in the lives of her children, particularly their commitment to faith, service, humility, discipline, and the physical and spiritual well-being of others, speak volumes about the values she must have instilled in them.

According to him, the character and conduct of children often bear testimony to the upbringing they receive, adding that the exemplary qualities demonstrated by her children reflect the enduring influence of a home founded on integrity, selflessness, diligence, and the fear of God.

He noted that Mama Ajakaye’s legacy would continue to live on through the values she imparted and the lives she positively influenced, stressing that her life of sacrifice and dedication to raising her children in the ways of God would remain a source of inspiration to generations.

While acknowledging that words may offer little comfort in the face of such a profound loss, the former Governor prayed that Almighty God would grant the bereaved family and all those mourning the deceased the fortitude to bear the loss.

Dr Fayemi also prayed for divine comfort for the family and the entire Catholic community, expressing the hope that the soul of Mama Florence Funmilayo Ajakaye would, through the mercy of God, rest in perfect peace.

“May the Almighty God comfort all who mourn her passing, strengthen the bereaved family, and preserve the enduring legacy of love, sacrifice, and virtue she leaves behind,” he said.

Dr Fayemi conveyed his condolences on behalf of his wife, Bisi, and the entire Fayemi family.
