Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator Bode Ola has congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his emergence as the party’s candidate in the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election saying that his victory will break the jinx of one term Governor in the state.

He made the remarks in a statement made available to EKITI STANDARD in Ado Ekiti on Thursday.

According to the elder statesman, Governor Oyebanji’s emergence at the primary signals the breaking of a jinx in Ekiti state.

His words; “I am one of the people that supported the continuity of Governor Biodun Oyebanji for second term. In the first instance, there’s a jinx in Ekiti that no Governor had done two terms uninterrupted. I think this is the first time we are going to break that jinx.

“A lot of us believe that if he does 8 years consecutively, there would be more development and good governance as we are seeing all over the place. Yes, Fayemi and Fayose have done eight years but there was a vacuum in between, but this time it’s going to be a continuous back-to- back tenure so that some of the projects he started, he would be able to finish them and that is why it is important for him to continue”.

Continuing, the former SUBEB Chairman said: “Besides, he (Oyebanji) himself is a very humble, cool- headed guy and friendly with all and sundry. He is a well grounded grassroots politician having learnt from his working with two former governors of Ekiti – Governor Niyi Adebayo and Fayemi in that order for more than 10 years. That shows he knows what he’s doing because he has learnt so many things from them and he may not make the same mistakes others have made.

“So we all expected him to do well and he’s already doing well for the people during his first term. I wish him all the best.” He concludes
