ides to the Senate Leader, Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, have congratulated the Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, following the Federal High Court judgment in Abuja affirming him as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the June 20, 2026 election.
The aides, in a statement signed by Hon. Mayowa Ojo and Femi Alufa, described the ruling as “a victory for democracy and the rule of law,” noting that it has put to rest all uncertainties surrounding the party’s candidacy in the state.
“The judgment of the Federal High Court has reaffirmed the legitimacy of Governor Oyebanji as the duly recognised flag bearer of our great party,” the MOB aides said. “This is not just a legal victory but a reflection of the collective will of party members and stakeholders across Ekiti State.”
The group also commended the governor’s performance in office, particularly his administration’s development agenda tagged ‘the roadmap to keeping Ekiti working,’ which, they said, has delivered measurable progress across critical sectors.
“Governor Oyebanji has demonstrated purposeful leadership in infrastructure development, education, and social welfare. His inclusive style of governance continues to inspire confidence among the people of Ekiti,” the statement added.
Also speaking, a #BringBackMOB campaigner in Ekiti State and Senior Legislative Aide to the Senate President, Hon. Oluyemi Ojo, reaffirmed the group’s commitment to the governor’s re-election bid, pledging intensified grassroots mobilisation ahead of the polls.
“We are fully committed to ensuring the re-election of Governor Oyebanji. Our members across the 16 local government areas are already mobilising support, and we are confident of delivering no fewer than 500,000 votes,” Ojo stated.
He further called on members of the APC in the state to remain united, stressing that cohesion within the party would be key to securing victory.
“This is the time for all party faithful to close ranks. With unity, dedication, and strategic engagement with the electorate, victory is assured for our party,” the aides said.
Political analysts believe the court ruling will further consolidate Governor Oyebanji’s standing within the APC, as stakeholders intensify consultations and campaign strategies ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
