…Hails Gov Oyebanji for support

The Executive Chairman of Ado Central LCDA, Engr. Toyin Ojo has added ‘Oko Arugbo’ to his name in appreciation of his unparalleled love and emphathy for the aged and the vulnerable people in his council area.
The new appellation was unanimously adopted by a group of old and vulnerable men and women from all the five wards of Ado Central LCDA on Thursday at an historic event characterized by heart pouring of prayers and best wishes for the Council boss who launched an improved welfare package for the elderly people by raising their monthly stipends by 50% in line with the present economic realities.
The Council Chairman in addition, also extended the number of beneficiaries from 100 to 150 people.
Engr Ojo in his welcome speech delivered in Yoruba, thanked all the guests including Party leaders from all the wards as well as administrative staff of the Council for honouring his invitation.
He noted that the empowerment program for the elderly was launched last year and was to run till the end of his three year tenure adding that but with the present economic reality, there was an urgent need for upward review of the cash gift to reflect the market forces.
According to him; “We launched this program last year and we made it expressly clear to you that it would continues monthly till the end of my three year in office.
“However, we noticed that prices of food and other items had skyrocketed since last year as a result of which we saw the need to increase the amount in order to reflect the current economic realities in the high cost of food items.
“In addition, we have also increased the number of beneficiaries from 100 last year to 150 with the hope of raising the number next year”. He said.
He emphasized that the cash gift is to help them to buy food items for their support and not to be diverted to other ventures or any profitable business unbefitting their age.
In a related development, the Council boss urged all the beneficiaries not to relent in their prayers for Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his huge support and express approval for all the projects brought to his table by the LCDA.
He however reminded his audience not to forget to rally maximum support for the party that fielded him as their Chairman with their votes whenever the coast is clesr for the next election in the State noting that Governor BAO has touched every nooks and crannies in the state to warrant a resounding second term victory.
Speakers spoke in praises of Engr Ojo for his large heartedness and giving spirit to help the people in need across the LCDA.
Present at the historic event include; the Vice Chairman, the Council Secretary, Chairperson, Mrs Mary Ojo, APC Chairman Ado Central, GM EKSIMA. Others are: members of legislative Council, the HLA, Chief Engineer, Procurement Officer, Supervisors, Information Officer for the Council amongst others.
