The Ekiti State Government says no fewer than 1,500 civil servants have benefited from various capacity-building programmes organised by the Biodun Oyebanji administration to enhance efficiency and service delivery in the state public service.

The State Commissioner for Capacity Development and Training, Prof. Patrick Tedela, disclosed this on Thursday at the opening of a two-day training programme for Executive Officers (General Duties) in Ado-Ekiti.

Tedela said the state government had organised about 20 series of similar training programmes for workers across different cadres of the public service.

He commended Gov. Biodun Oyebanji for prioritising workforce development, describing the initiative as a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to continuous human capital development.

According to him, executive officers occupy strategic positions in the public service as custodians of critical personnel records, including appointments, promotions, training, discipline, staff welfare and exit management.

He urged participants to ensure that the training translated into practical outcomes capable of strengthening personnel administration and improving overall service delivery in the state.

Earlier, the State Head of Service, Dr Folakemi Olomojobi, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Office of Establishment and Service Matters, Mrs Janet Ajibola, said the training would enhance participants’ capacity in handling official documents, correspondence and records with accuracy, timeliness and strict adherence to due process.

Olomojobi charged participants to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the training in the discharge of their duties.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Capacity Development and Training, Mr Bamidele Arowosola, said the programme, themed “Effective Personnel Management in the Public Service: Scaling up Officers’ Skills for Enhanced Service Delivery,” was designed to improve participants’ competence and effectiveness.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission, Mrs Bukola Ogunlade, urged participants to maximise the opportunity to improve their performance and guard against sharp practices and dishonesty in the public service.

Resource persons at the training, including Mr Sunday Adebayo and Mr Bayo Opeyemi, expressed optimism that the programme would broaden participants’ knowledge and better position them for enhanced service delivery.

Some participants, including Mr Oluwagbemi Ologuntoye of the Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency and Mrs Folu-Oni Jumoke of the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, commended the state government for organising the programme and pledged to apply the knowledge gained to improve their performance.
