GARLANDS, ENCOMIUMS FOR PRINCE (PROF) OLUSOLA FAFURE AT OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF BOOK, FOUNDATION

Good name, solid pedigree and record achievements in philanthropy- all played out for Prince (Prof) Olusola Fafure, who launched his new book titled: ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY-(An intoduction to Complimentary and Alternative Medicine( (CAM) on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

This is, as royal fathers, professional colleagues, top governent functionaries, friends and family of the author converged at the G-Boss venue of the memorable event along New Secretariat Road to celebrate the erudite Professor of Medicine and renowned entrepreneur.

The twin event also marked the official launching of Prince (Prof) Olusola Fafure Foundation.

Dr. Emmanuel Olakunle in his introductory speech expressed joy to have witnessed the event of launching of the latest work of the author who he described as a “talented octogenarian, scholar, traditional medicine practitioner of repute and a leading member of Fafure Royal dynasty of Ikole Ekiti”

He said with the launching of the much awaited book by the philanthropist, Prof Fafure has enlisted his name amongst celebrated authors in the world.

His words; “Prof Fafure is the founding father of many complimentary and alternative medical training and research institutions in Nigeria”

Speaking on the Olusola Fafure Foundation, Dr Olakunle hinted that the foundation is a medical establishment borne out of passion for people of Ekiti State and Nigeria adding that the Ikole-Ekiti- born physician embarked on the project to compliment the existing robust health care system in Ekiti State being pioneered by the administration of Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji in Ekiti State.

On the new book, the keynote speaker who doubles as the publisher of the literary work said;

“We are also celebrating a journey of creativity, of persistence and of passion for humanity. Every book is a window into a unique world and ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY-(An intoduction to Complimentary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) promises to do just that”. He said.

The book reviewer, Prof. Kayode Oseni revealed that his first comment after reading the book was to thank God for the great work put together by the author saying;

“For those of us who had our origin from the conventional level of students-before we become practitioners of natural medicine, we know what it is to study physiology and anatomy.

According to the Professor of Natural Medicine”As I delved into the pages, I expressed a great joy because it is a book that I have long sought since I been lecturing, anatomy has been solitary in complimentary and alternative medicine audience

“This work fills the vertical gap that some of us that have been involved in lecturing physiology and anatomy complimentary and alternative medicine have been yearning for because this book represents a significant milestone in complimentary and alternative medicine”

He identified a major challenge confronting lecturers in the field of natural medicine in the past which was the absence of a particular book written by an indigenous author

“But I thank God that my father, Prof Fafure has solved that onerous challenge because this book Anatomy and Physiology-An intoduction to Complimentary and Alternative Medicine written by Prof Samuel Olusola Fafure for medical students is a valuable result. It is a great gain for both the students and lecturers of complimentary and alternative medicine simplifying the teaching process for educators and making life more accessible for the students.

“By writing this book on Anatomy and Physiology, Prof Fafure has etched his name in the annals of complimentary and alternative medicine education as a pioneer being the first to incorporate homeopathy and herbal remedy for various health conditions in this country”

Dr. Olamide Fafure, son of the author in his presentation unveiled the Prof Olusola Fafure Foundation as a public spirited non-governmental organization founded to fill the gap created by proliferation of NGOs approved by the government which fails to promote, encourage and establish more health- based NGOs.

He noted that such health based institutions will help to closely deliver to the local communities the health care delivery system that governent is trying to put in place.

Olamide who commended the efforts of Governor Biodun Oyebanji-led administration on the achievements made within the little pace of their service in the health sector prayed for more success and outstanding progress for the administration.
He said; ” Professor Olusola Fafure Foundation is established to fulfill his long-life dream and vision in the area of service to his community and to his country and his only motto which I grew up to know is-Service to Humanity which is already adopted at the inception of the registration of our company in 1981. Therefore these fundamental aims and objectives of the Foundation are captured in the official statements setting up the Foundation”
He summarized the words in the Foundation’s policy as something that would “outlive, outlast and continues to the future generations and our children yet unborn”.

Prof Fafure in a response, expressed gratitude to all for sparing their time to honour him at the launching of his book.
He took time to tell the story of his life in a manner that stunned the audience as he revealed that his life time ambition was to be an engineer because of his proficiency in mathematics.
But fate played a different tune for him as he narrated how the late Elekole, Oba Adeleye initially called him to come and start working as a clerk in the customary court after his school certificate examination.
“Unfortunately when my school certificate results came out I was able to pass well in science including English. I was opportuned to be selected among the 15 students to represent western region and I went to Oshodi and while I was there, an advertisement came up and I applied and at the end of the day, eight of us were selected. That was how I came to the field of medicine studying Medical Laboratory Science at the University of Lagos. After five years I was qualified as Medical Laboratory Scientist.
“My aim is to continue to assist the people either physically or monitarily or whatever way anybody needs to be helped. So, the motto-Service to Humanity has been in me ever since and I thanked God in the roles I’ve played over the years at local level, state level (Lagos state), at national level as the pioneer and founding father of some federal institutions like the Federal College of Complimentary and Alternative Medicine, Nigerian National Heath Development Agency to mention a few”

He emphasized the need to embrace natural medicine in view of the declaration by the World Health Organization that no African can afford the treatment of Western medicine because every aspect of the treatment is very expensive adding that nature blends easily.
He commended the untiring collaborative efforts of his professional colleagues who initiated a Bill to the Nigeria’s 9th Assembly leading to the establishment of the Federal College of Complimentary and Alternative Medicine.
The grand event was brought to a close with the launching of the book while the delectable daughter of the author Mrs Tolulope Benson gave the vote of thanks.
Dignitaries at the event included; Prof. Akeem Azeez, representing the State Governor, traditional rulers from Ikole, Prof Cyril Omisade, Prof Kayode Oseni, Elder Tunde Omoniyi.
Others are Amb Wale Ojo-Lanre, DG Bureau of Touurism Development Ekiti State, troupe from Ekiti State Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy while ace MC, AY Nigeria moderated the program.
