The annual Olufemi Ogunkorode Memorial Award ceremony of St Joseph’s University, Philadelphia ( formerly known as the University of Sciences Philadelphia) was held on Saturday May 10th, 2025 at the Athletic Recreation Center of the University.

The ceremony was climaxed with the award of prices to two distinguished graduating students- Ms. Kayla Nueva and Ms. Diane Torregrossa who distinguished themselves in both academic and athletic achievements in the institution’s College of Pharmacy.

The Olufemi Ogunkorode Memorial Award was designed to honor the life and legacy of “Femi” (as he was fondly called) who died in the University on March 23, 2006.

Femi was a selfless individual who was beloved around campus.

In the classroom, he excelled as a Pharmacy student but outside the classroom, he was a true leader who always wears a smile on his face.

He died during training for a lawn tennis tournament in the then University of the Sciences Philadelphia before the institution was renamed.

After his demise, the award was established by Femi’s family to immortalize his legacy and also to recognize and motivate other students with similar characteristics in his university.

The late Femi was a Pharmacy Student at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.

The Olufemi Ogunkorode Memorial Award was established a year after Femi’s death and it has survived till date every year.

The net worth of the memorial award has risen to about $50,000 as at 2025 and it is expected to continue to rise annually.

The 2025 beneficiaries of this award expressed appreciation to the family of Femi for establishing the Award while Ose Ogunkorode and his wife congratulated the beneficiaries for their great achievements in the University, wishing them well in their future endeavors.
